Being Alone Will Make You Realize, When It's Over, All In Love Is Fair...

My first wife returns to the limelight with her first single off, The Elements of Freedom; which is releasing December 1st...

Alicia Keys - "Doesn't Mean Anything" Music Video

Honestly. My morning was messed. I seriously thought I was put in a situation that I wasn't really in. I seriously thought I lost a lot in an instant and everything I had was slipping through my fingers. Talk about fragile right.

I admit I'm not in the healthiest of states. Sleep-deprivation-wise, friendship-wise and relationship-wise. There's only so much you can control with your own power. I haate feeling helpless. So that's why if any ship goes down, I should stand up to the sinking until I'm hair-line deep. Because no matter how bad things are, in reality, there's always room for things to be worse.

Cherish the good things you have. If they're gone, you want them back. I felt kinda lost/confused and damn, it sucked. I realized I'm too preoccupied with my own sh!t to deal with anything outside of me--selfish I know. I kept thinking;
how do you cope when you don't have the time to play mender? I was pretty rattled, heart-broken even; when really I didn't have to be. It's like playing 'what-if' without eliminating the fantasy. Pretty whack. This is what went through my head during class; so it's appropriate that this video dropped today I guess.

I'm out like contentment after realizing you're losing it...

I Got The Right, To Put Up A Fight, But Not Quite, 'Cause You Cut Off My Light...

A very bizarre short film directed by Spike Jonze, the director of the film-adaptation of the children's story, Where The Wild Things Are. It stars Kanye West; the two also collaborated on Ye's Flashing Lights video...

"We Were Once A Fairytale" Short Film

Kudos to one of my friends posting this on fb; I didn't even know they did this collaboration.

'To Reset Your Buzz Lightyear, Insert Paperclip'...

Damn, no one believed me before when I said this was coming out and Andy was in college and what not--do I joke around thaat much!? lol

"Toy Story 3" Trailer

Never missed a Disney/Pixar since TS started it. I remember in grade 2 when we had to write a story everyday in those note books, there was a good 2 weeks where I wrote out the entire story of Toy Story!! LOL. I kept writing 'to be continued' at the end, and eventually my teacher commented 'please end this soon' LOL.

The best scene in the first one was when Woody and Buzz put a rocket on RC! Epic! lol. Everyone was a Buzz fan, but I remember as a kid I empathized with Woody a lot because Buzz was so oblivious the whole movie (idiot) and he was stealing all Wood's friends lol.

'The One Day Of The Year, Where We Gather Together And Give Slaps'...

Never posted from my life in a while. My Thanksgiving weekend was good overall despite my pile of homework. The week immediately after the holiday break consists of a quiz, a midterm and an online assignment; bearing in mind that the following week I have 2 assignments and a midterm as well.

Friday: Played ball for the first time in a long time. I just don't have the leisure time anymore. It was good except for my congestion making it difficult to breathe at times and my obligatory knee resting. After I played I went to Ez's birthday party. I just chilled, drank, ate and played around with his drum kit, lol.

Saturday:
I studied all day. Spontaneuously left my books to go watch a movie with Nadine. Saw Couples' Retreat. It was aaalright. The plot was a tad lame, but it was pretty damn funny. After that I went to Shawn's for a little to chill with the fam (shawn, niko, p rosey). I haven't seen them in agessssss cause of school--damn. Just chilled outside and then went in and watched an old epi of Entourage.

Sunday: Studied and then went to church in the afternoon. It was the Barangay Sang Birhen fiest that my tita hosts every year and SJF. It was fun as always. It was also my cousion AJ's bday so we went back to their house after. Just chilled, played Apples to Apples (I won obv cause im loud and abnoxious lol), played Scribblenauts, ate leftovers/cake. Ended up sleeping over and played 2K10 until 4am!!! haha! That was messed.

Monday: Woke up. Did some homework. Waited for the fam to come and had Thanksgiving Lunch lol. After that, studied some more until I finished my homework triumphantly! Then just relaxed and enjoyed the dayyy. Ate so0o much fooood, watched random videos with my cousins, played more Scribblenauts, napped.

Then eventually went home; caught HIMYM and studied until 1am for my quiz I just had. I wish I had the video montage one, but yeah here's Marshall's song after the 'best' double date of his life, lol...

HIMYM: Marshall - "It Was The Best Night Ever"

Overall it was a good Thanksgiving Weekend. I enjoyed it. Now it's go time. Playoff beard is slowly showing face =/ as scruff oct continues.

I can't get this out of my head everytime I study or go to the library I hear: 'Donde esta la biblioteca?' lol. My sis got me on to this show...

It's is a pretty solid show so far. With that said. I gotta go hit the books hard.

These Streets Will Make You Feel Brand New, Big Lights Will Inspire You...

Apparently this comes out next week? I knew it was done but I was expecting commercials to air, or something, to give some indication. Should be an interesting film...

"New York, I Love You" Trailer

It's from the producer of Paris, Je T'aime, it's the same concept, but instead of Paris the setting is New York. It's basically a collection of love stories happening at the same time in the same city. For this they have a plethora of directors, including actor Natalie Portman. The cast is stacked also.

As much as I love dramas, I'm still a sucker for good, honest romance plots (i.e. Notebook & 500 Days) (soft I know). I've noticed that I've gotten more into romances ever since I got with my gf (soft I know). It's honestly because I can really identify with the characters more sincerely and this makes it more interesting for me to watch.

I'm out like Big Apple love in the air...

I Was Taught Be Smart Stay Humble, I Was Taught Be Hard Don't Fumble...

It's that time of the year you've all been waiting for. HBO's 7th installment of 24/7 airs on the 24th of October--getting hyped yet!?

"Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7" Teaser

This is a little teaser for 24/7 where Max Kellerman (aka dude who broke up Mayweather/Mosley) face off in an interview with the two boxers. 11/07/09 let's go!

I'm out like Marquez in the second...

So a few days ago, MTV did their annual Hottest MC's [pause] special. Their top 10 was okay, but kinda iffy: Gucci Mane? Rick Ross?. I know it's hard to make a list so I won't hate. But Gucci Mane!? lol. I know he's on like every song, but still. I dislike his music; personally think it's just weakk...

If you have Raekwon present on the list, why not other lyrical rappers who released albums this year with decent buzz, like; Mos Def, Meth/Red, Joey/Joel/Nickle/Crook, Eminem, Cudi???

Obviously I'll give a list of my own on the bases of hot = recent buzz, lyrical, push boundaries, mainstream appeal...
10) KiD CuDi: not an 'MC' per-say, not super lyrical per-say, but who can mess with the music and innovation he puts into his music. I'll label it hip-hop because it is hip-hop. Hip Hop is innovation and evolution, and he brings that.

9) Raekwon: sequel-ed a classic this year and brought back the Wu rawness in one of the best albums of the year.

8) Mos Def: The Ecstatic was solid Mos. Not a lot of mainstream buzz, but he's on his form--don't sleep!

7)
Fabolous: released the most 'successful' album of his career to date, and is still one of the most underrated.

6) Lil' Wayne: no album, but pumping out features with higher credibility then most of the game.

5) Joe Budden (+ Slaughterhouse): supergroup uprise + decent Padded Room+ 1/4 of the most lyrically mind-blowing album of the year

4)
Eminem: made a comeback from drug addiction and released one of the rawest, most honest and lyrical albums of the year--no one can touch his flow. Close 3rd.

3) Kanye West: a bunch of singles this year from 808's, and his features are pretty on point.

2)
Drake: most buzzed rapper in a long while (Snoop/50), every track he released is accepted in the mainstream, and as well by hip hoppers. His lyrical game is just right to be accepted and he can still go raw when he wants to [pause].

(Personally, listening to more Drizzy, I'm starting to feel the word 'overrated' MILDLY approaching just a tadddd--*gasp* *cast stones*. Maybe it's the mainstream love that he gets by everyone? Fear was ill though, we need an album to accompany all this buzz Jimmy!
)

1) Jay-Z: self-explanatory. Most buzzed album of the year. Most looked-up to. Not the most lyrical this year, but still has a hard flow. Most well-known. He's like a president in hip hop.
Strictly IMO, everybodies got an opinion.

I'm out like Eminem from MTV's 10...

Give A Little Bit: Entourage Season 6 Finale...

Not the greatest season, but honestly one of the best Entourage episodes ever to end it off...

Here's my favourite scene: Ari Gold (+ paintball gun) fulfills his promise to 'walk the place Terminator-style and eradicate all the dead weight' ahaha...

Ari Gold Goes 'Terminator Style'

After Ari takes over his biggest agency company competitor, he begins 'firing' with no subtleties. Ari Gold = best character on TV period (seriously)...

But really, one of the best finales I've ever seen;
- Matt Damon's intensity is hilarious! haha.. 'I got Bono here' 'Do what's right Vince!'
- E finally did the right thing, geez
- Johnny Drama on holding deal and still going to Italy
- Vinnie off to shoot Enzo Ferrari
- Jamie Lynn gone for now.. knew it wouldn't last tooo long
- Lloyd's with Ari again and finally an agent
- Ari runs an empire

You Better Find Somebody To Love...

I'm a big Coen Bros fan. I think they're am
azing and twisted in a good way. This Friday A Serious Man releases, it looks like a very perplexing black [dark] comedy...

"A Serious Man" Trailer

I have all faith in Coen-directed/written movies, especially of late. Like who can mess with No Country on a suspense level!? Also, I love how they went from an all-star Burn After Reading cast to a 'no-name' cast for this one--it shows the credibility of their reputation. It also shows their loyalty to their craft, where they don't need big actors to make a solid film.

I'm out like thinking Rabbis from helping...

Still such an epic track. Em beasts it like nothing...

Drake - "Forever" [Feat. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem]

This track is off the original soundtrack for LBJ&TheIrish's movie, More Than a Game. It features; clips from the movie, Hype Williams crafting, stage performances, a country-star crusher, a tatted-beyond-recognition martian and a rehabilitated sleeping pill addict.

It May Not Mean Nothing To Ya'll, But Understand Nothing Was Done For Me...

As much as I dislike LBJ now, I was always a fan of the hype. In grade 7/8 this was one of my first Slam's...

As a kid, it blew my mind what Lebron did in his high school career. No player has EVER had that much hype at such a young age. This guy had his own basketball tour for goodness sake.

"More Than A Game" Trailer

Not big on LBJ, but catching this is a must. It's about more than the game, literally. Beyond the game of basketball and beyond the one player. It's about team unity and brotherhood. How do you play with the best high player ever? How do you play under the eye of America?

How Much They Hate It? Very...

SMH & LOL at Kanye West in douchebag mode. He meant well I guess. Single Ladies is a creatively simple and powerful video. So yeah, he has a valid opinion; I just don't agree with how he stated it. Beyonce made up for it at the end when she gave Taylor the stage--you can't write this stuff...

Slacked on posting this. Suppose to have more on Jay-Z 9/11 benefit, but I didn't have the feeling anymore to write properly, so I deleted it, lol. (posted October 7th)

On September 11, 2009, KiD CuDi performs The Pursuit of Happiness on The Late Show with David Letterman. And miraculously, that night, he appears during Jay-Z's benefit concert at MSG (lol). The Man on The Moon can teleport? Or prob he was just at the Late Show pre-tape...

Who Knew We Would Be Where We Are, Here Today. Who Knew Your Heart Had A Cost, I Would Pay...

Ready is still on constant rotation for me. I haven't been this hooked to a R&B CD since Confessions...

The most recent R&B CD I remember that captured my attention anywhere close to Ready was Ryan Leslie's self-titled debut earlier this year.

What Ready has that RL didn't was growth (obv cause it was his first). This is Trey's 3rd LP and the maturity shown on the album impressive I must say.

I remember listening to Trey Day a couple years ago and labeled it as another average R&B album. As much as I like Trey, it was the same as any other R&B record dropping these days and I thought it was Trey's peak.

While listening to Ready, I found out I was wrong. This album brings strong song writing and strong melodies. The only track that didn't click with me was LOL :-). I'm not big on Soulja Boy or Gucci Mane at all. The chorus sounds very simple and SB-like. The only verse I take in is Trey's; other then this track I love the entire disk.

The CD is grouped into themed sections. The first few songs are sexual, followed by love songs/ballads, then the fun songs and at the end are heartbreak songs...

Ready is filled with tracks you can vibe to, smooth slow jams and love ballads, surprisingly. The ballad, One Love was one of the tracks that immediately took me in. I wasn't expecting the level of maturity that the song resonated. I couldn't stop replaying it because it had so much truth.

Jupiter Love is a very sensual song; it is a definite mood-setter with choruses like, 'don't you be afraid to, let me elevate you'.

Together with One Love; Black Roses and Love Lost complete my top 3. To me, they're the most honest songs. Grown-man music. The writing style he shows is very developed and mature...

Black Roses has a an infectious ska-sounding melody and definitely one of the albums gems. Trey talks about painfully ending a relationship that has run it's course. Love Lost talks about disconnecting with someone you love. These two songs show that pain and heartbreak spawn the best music.

I thought the Anticipation mixtape was as good as it gets, but Trey truly saved the best for the album. The only song from the mixtape on Ready is Yo Side of The Bed which talks about no longer having the person in your life who you love.

Trey Songz shows immense growth with this effort. The songs that he conjures up are refreshing to me because I haven't really connected with any R&B album of late. They're always flawed of have no replay value. It's been weeks and I'm still hooked on this CD.

I'm out like any R&B song stuck in my head, not from this album...

So creative and wow, so genius. How do they do this stuff? Plus 100 for starting with my two faves...

It's only fitting that this video drops while I'm killing time at school. My school time anthem...

Drake - "Successful" [Feat. Trey Songz]

I'm telling you, it's like this era's Best of Both Worlds. The track is off of Trey Songz's 3rd LP Ready, which is dropping tomorrow. I've been spinning it for the past weeks [pause] and I love it; and will support.

Right now I'm at school running errands. Gotta get mentally ready for this stuff come next week--I have to kill it this year. I can honestly say I'm scared but I must stay motivated. Family pride, starting my life, massive student debt etc. That's what is driving me to do this school thing properly...

I can't eff around anymore and I have to concentrate on what I'm doing. I read a sentence on something at Chapters; something along the lines of:
"Instead of trying to find yourself, try losing yourself in the moment..."

I adopted it as my new approach to school because I tend to get so caught up in the future that I forget to pay attention to what's happening right now. I overlook what's going on in the present and don't give 100% effort. That's one of my biggest faults--I just gotta apply myself. Let's go.

I'm out like summer vacay next week...

As Time Goes By, An Eye For An Eye...

So right now, I just finished watching a show on MTV Canada a show called Pranked, which premiered today. The show basically shows amateur videos of people pranking other people and recording it on film--pretty amusing...

Anyways, the hosts of the show are CollegeHumor's Amir and Streeter. I am familiar with these two because of their viral Prank Wars that some school friends turned my attention to a while back...

Here are two of my favourite Prank Wars episodes; 'The Infamous Yankee Prankee' and 'The Half Court Shot' (episode 6 & 7 respectively)...

In 'The Infamous Yankee Prankee' Amir gets control over the jumbo-tron at a Yankee game that Streeter is at with his long-term girlfriend. The prank is, during a break in the 5th inning, a message appears where Streeter will propose to his girlfriend without his knowledge. Frggen cold-blooded. And Hilarity ensues...

Prank Wars 6 - The Infamous Yankee Prankee

In 'The Half Court Shot' Amir is given the opportunity to win a $500,000 shot by hitting a half-court shot blind-folded during a timeout an NCAA game. The prank is when Amir misses the shot, Streeter tells the crowd beforehand to erupt and act as if the he made the shot and won the money. Damn clever. Oh yeah, and hilarity ensues...

Prank Wars 7 - The Half Court Shot

I'm out like relationships when you fake propose...

Yet again I'm pulled out of blogging limbo for a hot song. I'm sorry, this is a show-steeler. Not a LBJ fan so im hating the rough artwork...

Heath Ledger's Final Bow...

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a film written and directed by Terry Gilliam. It stars the late Heath Ledger. Sadly, Ledger's death occurred during filimg and only one third of filming was completed. After a hiatus, Gilliam replaced the late actor with heavyweight actors; Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law. He re-wrote the script to incorporate the three actors as transformations of the main character...

The movie looks very interesting and is set to releases on October 16, 2009 . It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year...

"The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" Trailer

Heath passed before his prime. At least the world got to see his talent in The Dark Knight with his amazing portrayal of legendary villian, The Joker. His talent was not unnoticed as he swept the 2008 award season winning numerous Best Supporting Actor awards; including a statue from the Academy.

I'm out like four actors from under one mask...

And The Visual Is Stunning, I Hope They Document What I'm Becoming...

The super-pressured bearer of the torch Drizzy Drake is going to re-release his career propelling mixtape So Far Gone. He's adding a track at end the tape
with a segway in the last verse that leads to Thank Me Later...
“I did this song that no one has ever heard before, ever,” he explained. “[It's] a song called ‘Fear.’ I recorded it when I did So Far Gone — the first verse and half of the second verse I had gotten through. But then I just stopped because it was getting eerie. It was getting where I didn’t know if I could [finish it]. And then the other night I had a moment and I finished the song. That’s gonna be the last song on the retail [version of] So Far Gone. And the third verse transitions into Thank Me Later. So the last line of the third verse is gonna be the first line on my album.”
The mixtape was sold on iTunes without authorization in the past. The official retail version drops on September 15, 2009 and TML a couple months later--talk about 4th quarter heroics. Speaking of mixtapes that can be albums. Anticipation! that's all I'm gonna say, eeeyyyyyuuuuup!.

Here's yet another track off of Viva la Vida--it's not even off Prospkt's March. The album was released over a year ago and the singles keep coming, damn. Nonetheless, the song is dope...

Coldplay - "Strawberry Swing"

It's a stop-motion video that mixes stop motion and chalk drawings. The product is incredible. When it comes to videos Coldplay always stretches the norm, that's what I respect about them.

Anthony vs. GoTransit...

Usually I dig deep, and pull out a blog. But I honestly can't right now. I'm HELLA bored right now at school. So I guess I'll create my most boring blog to date and I'll talk about my morning a la first-person narrative because all this Engineering stuff has me missing English to a point where I'm considering English as an elective, ew. Maybe this will satisfy my yearning for English...

[...]

I woke up early this morning and--as a premeditated act--I went to downtown Toronto to my UofT campus (where I currently am). The reason for this trip is because the flood gates for elective registration for my program open tomorrow morning. I had some inquiries and what not to get out of the way before I made elective decisions...

Due to family bickering, I do not have access to a car, but I was lucky enough to get a ride to the GoTrain station this morning. As I boarded the train, I noticed a couple police officers aboard the train. I immediately checked my pocket for my unpunched ticket and I glanced out the window. I then gave up any attempts of running out of the train and back up the stairs to punch my ticket. So I painfully took my seat knowing they would check tickets some time during the ride and I would get a fine that I cannot afford. All that went through my head was that I'm screwed because I already have one warning from last summer. The time I forgot to punch my 10-ride on my way downtown for a concert...

Now in my seat, I spent the whole time giving the illusion that I was sleeping while I contemplated what I would say to the officer that would approach me. As the officer walked up to my seating area repeating the words 'we're checking tickets', I pretended to slowly gain attentiveness as if I was just interrupted from a good nap...

After the woman officer saw me, she demanded to see my ticket. I took my time and eventually pulled out my ticket
after checking two pockets without success; although I already knew where it was. In my hand was the double-sided 2-ride ticket. It was very fresh and it was indeed unpunched...

As I looked a the ticket, I gave an expression of confusion and pretended to read the ticket and said 'I didn't punch it, I thought I got a day pass because they were the same price'. She looked and me with a little empathy and told me to just punch the ticket when I get off the train. I was overcame with a little relief...

Then she said, 'as procedure, I need some ID to check if this has happened before'. In a bit of defeat I handed her my driver's license and confessed to my past warning before she could speak into her walkie-talkie...

Over some interference, the voice of the device said, in code, that I got a warning in May of 2008 for not punching my ticket. Had it been August 2008 I would've received a fine of $110-$500. Which is a serious economic blow to a second year student...

In desperation, I continued with my not-very-thought-out excuse, 'I usually get 10-rides and monthlys, so I'm unfamiliar with the system of 2-rides and day passes'...

With curiosity the lady officer said ,'well you must be familiar with the system if you know the difference between a day pass and a 2-ride.' [damn you!] 'Next time, know what you are asking for at the ticket booth' [I did know I wanted a 2-ride] 'I'm going to be nice again and write you your second warning' [you bastard]... efffff emmmm elllll...

'You're Not Funny..Comedy Is For Funny People'...

This is the main movie I've been waiting to see this summer. Everyone is a fan of the Apatow produced movies, and they're all established as comedic hits. However, as a big fan of Judd Apatow the director; needless to say I went in with high hopes...

I did the usual pre-research looking at reviews. I didn't doubt it would be good until I saw the review saying 'not funny', 'horrible movie, long, confusing', 'laughed at 2/100 jokes' stuff like that...

Honestly my mind is blown. It did not disappoint in any way for me, I'm aware of potential bias, but that's not the case. When Apatow directs, there's heart and substance. Knocked Up has heart and a realness. 40 Year-Old Virgin was more of a comedy but it also had heart in terms of empathizing with the character. Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared were two series with substance and potential.

The title Funny People and the casting must have threw people off. They were expecting an all-out comedy of funnymen, Sandler and Rogan headlining. This is not the case. Funny People is a drama, I guess that's where the disconnect is.

Adam Sandler is solid I must say. He shows that he can act and is not just over-the-top funny. Seth Rogan's character is hilarious in terms of being awkwardly real. He's just a normal modest guy with a lot of heart.

Basically, George is an established comedian and finds out he is terminally ill. By a little fate he meets Ira while reverting back to stand-up for self-fulfillment purposes. He eventually hires Ira as his assistant. From there the story progresses.

Both characters go through a lot of character development. Rogan's character Ira Wright becomes a more confident person as the movie progresses in his stand-up career. Also, Sandler's character George Simmons becomes compassionate and grateful for his success and wealth.

Sandler's main character, undergoes a near-death experience and it pushes a lot of buttons and evokes a lot of emotions.

The storyline is solid for the most part and extremely layered and active. If you do leave your seat you'll miss plot development, maybe that's what people didn't like also. (The only hole in plot for me is when Leslie Mann's character tries to hide Sandler's secret of being well to prevent Eric Bana from snapping? meh.)

It gets a +100 from me for casting The RZA as a minor role as Rogan's co-worker at 'Otto's' lol. It also stars Jonah Hill, Leslie Mann and Nero himself, Eric Bana.

I found the movie to be frggn hilarious, like all the jokes were on-point. If I had a quarter for every dick joke, oh man non-stop, lol. Don't get it twisted, they were funny jokes and as tasteful as dick-jokes can get.

The movie is sad in terms of getting let down by life. The moral mistakes you make in life are crucial and you can never get them back, you can only learn and grow from them.

Overall, it's a very real movie. I really enjoyed it. It was hilarious and at the same time had substance. I'm still big on 'Judd Apatow the Director' despite reviews by closed-minded movie-goers.

I'm out like people from their minds who thought FP was crap...
